Who's the loon

Watched this diver from the hard at Mersea. Although it was bright My fingers and toes soon turned numb from the bitterly cold wind, yet he's known as the common loon !!!!.

Couldn't help but notice the lovely colours, on this bird as he perched in the lovely bright sunshine.

Winter Waxwing







Wasn't expecting to see this beautiful bird until the New year,but due to weather conditions on the continent & in the North of England. This year they have arrived early searching for food.These two Birds where at Fingringhoe nature reserve Colchester.

Perfect Purple sand.











Visited Holland Haven today as i wanted to see this wader to put my yearly list on 200 species for Essex this year, and the best total i've ever had.

Mad Dog & Reed Bunting.




Had a walk along cockleshell beach today in the bright but cold weather. And whilst my dog had a swim i managed to photograph this Reed bunting.

Hallelujah the Hawfinch.




After Seven attempts to locate this Powerful billed finch recently. I finally Succeeded today. When this single bird, perched on a tree top at Braxted for a few moments. Next time i hope he stays longer so i'am able to get some better pictures.

Wading for the Buntings.


I literally took the plunge and waded across to the point at cudmore grove today. It's been a few years since I've seen the Snow buntings on the island. So i decided that by being cut of by the tide, i would have no threat of being disturbed by the dog walkers, And would be able to photograph the Buntings in total isolation. Here is the results.

It took a while but i finally found this Cetti's warbler in the thick vegetation. the birds location was given away by the load explosive song that it produce's.

Still watching over Essex.


Seen by so many as it hunts the roadside's around Essex, and also the emblem of Essex Wildlife Trust. The Kestrel.

Whats good for the Gander is good for me.




With not a lot else, around at Abberton, i decided to Photograph the Red-Breasted geese. The origin of these birds is unknown, but the rings on the legs show that they are properly escapee's from somebodys private collection.

Marvellous Marsh







Spent the day at one of the Essex Wildlife Reserves,and was over-joyed to see this

one of the u.k's smallest birds, and also shown on the back of the old farthing coin the Wren.

By knocking two stones together, i tricked this Stonechat into getting closer making him believe there was another chat in the vicinity.

Buzzing with colour
