Smitten with the Smew

Another trip to Abberton in the hope of the Bittern showing was again a waste of time. But i was fortunate enough to have this rather fine drake Smew spend some time trying to impress a female Red Head.

A cold easterly wind was blowing this morning, so i decided to venture inland and visit the Maldon gravel pits. Where these two Drake Smew's & accompanying female Red Head had decided, to be my subject for the day.
